Gothic, Renaissance and Jacobean antique fireplaces

This period dates from about 1260 to 1600. The Renaissance period was considered to have spanned the 14th to the 17th centuries. The Gothic period originated in 12th century France and lasted up to the 16th century. The Jacobean era in England and Scotland coincided with the reign of James VI of Scotland from 1567 to 1625. Westland London has a large range of marble, stone and wood antique fireplaces from these periods as well as pieces from the Renaissance, Gothic and Jacobean Revival periods which occurred in later centuries.

NeoClassical, Georgian antique fireplaces

The Neoclassical movement began in the early 18th century while the Georgian era spanned the first four Hanoverian Kings of Great Britain, all named George, from 1714 to 1830. Westland London’s collection of Neoclassical and Georgian fireplaces includes an impressive range of English, Scottish, Irish and Italian antique chimneypieces.

Regency, Empire and Louis XVI antique fireplaces

The Regency Period was so named when King George III of England was deemed unfit to rule and his son, the Prince of Wales, ruled by proxy as The Prince Regent. On his father’s death in 1820, the Prince Regent became George IV. The French Louis XVI Regence Period occured from the mid to the late 18th century and the Empire style appeared during the early 19th Century. Westland London has the highest number of antique fireplaces in Regency, Empire and Louis XVI styles in marble, carved stone and crafted wood.

Victorian and Edwardian antique fireplaces

Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Arts & Crafts antique fireplaces

Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts were popular at the end of 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. They were inspired by natural forms and structure and a desire to revive earlier crafts and methods of manufacture. The Art Deco style flourished from the 1920’s to the outbreak of the second world war.
